The course uses non-technical trails, since we want this race to be fun and accessible for both newer and experienced off-road riders. The challenge of this race is steady-rolling laps all night long. The team (or solo rider) that turns the most laps over those 12 hours wins the race for their class. If teams have equal lap counts during the final lap, the first team to cross the finish line wins.
How much?
Teams: $350 per team (one to three team members, one to three bikes)
Ironass: $225 (one rider, one bike)
All entry fees include a race t-shirt for each team member.
Due to insurance requirements:
Helmet lights are not permitted. (We don’t like it either, and we’re working to change it, but that’s where we are at ... thank you for your cooperation). Nothing besides goggles are allowed on your helmet; no Go-Pro mounts, no Velcro, NADA! We will inspect your helmet during tech inspection to ensure your helmet is compliant. We highly encourage creative lighting solutions: neon LED ground effects, light sticks, as many lights as you can attach to your bike or body … so long as they are not helmet mounted. (NOTE that for the purposes of this insurance requirement, helmet visors DO COUNT as part of the helmet.)
All competitors must show proof of AMA membership. You are required to show proof of AMA membership during registration on race day. At check-in on race-day, each team member must show their current AMA membership card, with their name on it. Check the expiration date on your card now! Competitors will have the option to purchase an event-only membership on-site, but we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE competitors to take care of this before race day - less paperwork and bullshit to deal with, more racing! Note that there is no/limited cell service at the check-in area.
More info about the race:
Team size from one to three riders.
Riders on teams may use their own motorcycles during the race (that is, the team does not need to ride the same bike through the event). Maximum of one bike per team member (though you can swap around if necessary).
No helmet lights or GoPro mounts on helmets (see above). This includes visor-mounting lights etc.
Bike & rider must meet lighting requirements; we will be checking at tech inspection. If your lights become inoperative during the race, you must repair/replace them before reentering the race. There are three essential lights:
i) bike and/or rider must have a forward-facing white light. Light can be bike- or rider-mounted, but NO helmet lights. OEM or aftermarket lighting is OK;
ii) bike must have a rear-facing red light. Light must be mounted on the motorcycle. OEM or aftermarket light OK;
iii) rider must wear a flashing red safety light on their body (clip-on battery-powered bicycle taillights OK and recommended). This helps sweep riders find you in case you get separated from the bike. We recommend bringing an extra (or two) in case you lose yours or the battery goes flat.Motorcycles and riders must meet all Tillamook State Forest requirements, including current Oregon OHV tag, spark arrestor, and muffler. We will check for your current OHV tag and spark arrestor during tech inspection. Note that there is no/limited cell service at the staging area, so do not plan on purchasing your OHV tag on-site.
Motorcycle and lighting equipment must be in workmanlike condition. A little janky is OK; a lot janky is not (especially where safety is an issue).
Your race registration fee is wholly refundable if the refund request is received at
registration@sang-froidridingclub.com before 12:01 a.m. on Monday, June 1st. Teams that cancel after that date will be refunded $250, Ironasses $150.The race begins with a wave start, by class.
At 7 a.m. the course is closed; no bikes may enter the course.
Volunteers make this race possible; they’re staying up all night to make it happen - so give ‘em a hand!
